Joutsenpesä is located near Kallioniemi Summer Restaurant, the canal of Varkaantaipale, Pien-Toijola farm museum and Astuvansalmi rock paintings. You can easily access all these for example by a rowing boat from the cottage.

Kallioniemi has served as a summer residence for a Finnish well-known politician and researcher E. N. Setälä over one hundred years ago. Today the villa is in use as a restaurant and a cultural site, and a good stop for boaters.

The beautiful canal of Varkaantaipale is an important link between two different parts of Lake Saimaa, Louhivesi and Yövesi.

Pien-Toijola farm museum presents farm life as it was centuries ago.

Astuvansalmi rock paintings are a historical step back in time, being the largest rock paintings in the Nordic countries. Located by Lake Saimaa, they are easily accessible by boat or by foot.
